Lean Green Belt Training Review

Lean (Toyota Production System) is in great demand in all the sectors, especially service and public service. All the companies are looking for Lean certified professionals.

“The Green Belt Training was something that I wanted to take to invest in myself and my future, really put something out so I can get something back,” says Karen Ryan, Management Consulting. “There’s one thing that I noticed CJ provided, as an instructor he was extremely thorough in helping to understand all the methodology. There were lots of contributions of that, exceeded my expectations. There was no question about that. He has vast amount of knowledge.”

“When I was starting with Lean Methodology, I wasn’t too sure,” she continues. “I had to find actually a place to engage the Lean Methodology, so I rang somebody’s door and I said, “Can I come in and apply Lean techniques here?”. They said, “Sure” and they actually set me up to work on one of the assembling lines and apply the methodology there. So it gave me the opportunity to identify whether there was a Lean opportunity and whether I was actually able to apply the techniques and involve other people, who were on the shift, the supervisors. And it let me to realize that it was a passion, it was something in me and it came out. It wasn’t just through the training, it was just right there and seeing the unveiling of the problems and being able to use the techniques to apply.”

Karen Ryan named three ideas that came to her mind about applying Lean Technology, “Lean is about using what you have already. To provide process improvements, to use tools that are already available, to use people who can come forward and tell you where the pain points are and to use the technology to help to do root cause analysis, to identify what it means to your customer. The idea of being able to give back is very strong. Something I want to do is to provide some level of input to see those improvements. Even when I was finishing my case study, I was able to see the solution almost immediately applied. Which was incredible. It was something I didn’t think I could do. But with the help of other people, it was very good to see implemented. The result of this was actually a 30% improvement and the company was delighted and I’ve been invited to come back and to work on another level.”

“Attending these workshops has been incredibly beneficial and I would recommend it to any organization. Especially, since it put in place the continuous improvements process,” she concludes. “You would want to do this, because you will find incredible savings, you will have people on board. The benefits are all through your organization, and even outside, because the benefits will also be seen by the customer. So putting Lean Methodology in place is absolutely essential for today. And organizations can benefit tremendously from it.”
