QCDMS TRAINING PROGRAMS
DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING, ASSEMBLY AND SERVICE
DFMA — Reducing Waste at the Design Stage
Oakville, Ontario · Delivered across Ontario, online and in person
| WHAT | Design for Manufacturing, Assembly and Service (DFMA) — 3.5 instructional hours over half a day. Capability level: Competent. |
| WHY | Design decisions lock in the large majority of total product and service cost. You will be able to review a design and remove that cost before it is committed. |
| WHO | Design, product, process, equipment and manufacturing engineers, technologists, and service and maintenance staff who inherit design decisions. |
| WHERE | Delivered live online, or in person in Ontario — at an open / public venue, or on site at the employer's premises. |
| WHEN | Half a day. Commonly delivered as a morning session so participants lose only part of a working day. |
| HOW | Instructor-led, small cohorts. Real robotic assembly and manufacturing case studies are analyzed, with PDCA applied to design review at every stage. |
| HOW MUCH | 3.5 instructional hours. Scope of work after the session: lead a DFMA review on your own product, process or equipment design. |
| Attendance | 100% |
| In-class exercises | Required. Participation is assessed. |
| Written examination | Optional quiz |
| Improvement project | Optional. Participants are encouraged to run a DFMA review on a live design after the session. |
| Credential | Certificate of attendance naming the session and hours. |
